Three Phases of Quran Memorization

Whether you are starting from Juz 30 or continuing from where you left off, every student moves through these three phases in their Hifz programme.

Phase 01
التَّهْيِئَة
New Lesson Memorization
Juz 30 · Short Surahs First
During this stage students are taught and memorized new verses every day, using the correct Tajweed and pronunciation. The teacher assists the students in developing accuracy, fluency and confidence in their journey of Quran Memorization.
Phase 02
الْحِفْظ
Revision & Reinforcement
Juz 1–29 · Core Programme
Practice that is previously memorized is updated regularly several times to improve the memorization and minimize misspoken statements. This is part of any good Quran Memorization course, and would be very beneficial in keeping students on track.
Phase 03
الْإِتْقَان
Final Review & Perfection
Full Quran · Consolidation
Students then work on the complete memorized Quran several times to gain competence, accuracy and confidence in their memorization during the last phase. At this stage, students are sure to have it strong in their memory.

I started Hifz at 42 years old thinking I was too old. My teacher told me it was never too late and proved it. I have now completed Juz 29, 30, and 1. I cry in every Taraweeh remembering how far I have come.

What I love about Qirat is that they never let you memorise wrongly. My teacher rejects any page where my Tajweed is not correct. It slows things down sometimes but my memorisation is rock solid.

I had memorised Juz 30 as a child and lost most of it over 15 years. My Qirat teacher helped me recover it completely in 4 months. Now I am going forward and have added 5 more Juz. I will finish in sha Allah.

Talk to Our Team
What is the minimum age to start Hifz?+
We accept Hifz students from age 5 onwards, provided they can recognise Arabic letters and have completed at least some of the Norani Qaida. For children under 5, we recommend starting with Norani Qaida first. There is no maximum age — adults at any stage of life are welcome to begin.
Does my child need to finish Tajweed before starting Hifz?+
Your child needs to be able to read the Quran fluently with at least basic Tajweed before beginning Hifz. They do not need to have completed a full Tajweed course — but incorrect pronunciation at the point of memorisation becomes very difficult to correct later. Your free assessment class will confirm readiness.
How much time should my child spend on Hifz daily outside of class?+
For children, we recommend 20–30 minutes of independent revision daily outside of class — reciting new memorisation and revising recent pages. For adults, 15–20 minutes is sufficient. Consistent daily revision, even short, is far more effective than long occasional sessions.
What if my child forgets previously memorised portions?+
Forgetting is completely normal and a natural part of the Hifz process. The Prophet ﷺ himself described the memorised Quran as needing constant revision, like a camel that must be tied. Our Manzil revision system is specifically designed to prevent large-scale forgetting — and our teachers know exactly how to rebuild forgotten portions quickly.
Can I memorise only certain Surahs or Juz rather than the full Quran?+
Absolutely. Many of our students enrol specifically to memorise Juz 30, or important Surahs like Al-Baqarah, Yaseen, Al-Mulk, and Al-Kahf. The Partial Hifz track is designed exactly for this — with no expectation of completing the full Quran unless the student wishes to continue.
What certificate does my child receive on completion?+
Students who complete all 30 Juz and pass their final examination receive an official Qirat Academy Hafiz certificate. Students who complete the Itqaan (strengthening) phase and recite the full Quran to their teacher also receive a Sanad — a written chain of authority connecting their recitation back to the Prophet ﷺ through their teacher's chain.
Do you offer a sibling or family discount?+
Yes — we offer a 10% discount for every additional sibling enrolled in any Qirat course, including Hifz. Many of our families have two, three, or even four children in the programme simultaneously. Contact us to set up a family plan.
